Kaskade To Headline 20 Dates On First-Ever IDentity Tour

Skrillex, Avicii, Steve Aoki and more join first all-EDM touring festival in the States.

For the DJ, touring is a way of life: late nights, early flights and long bus rides. For Kaskade (born Ryan Raddon), however, it's also his upcoming summertime adventure.

Kicking off in early August, the inaugural IDentity Festival is the first-ever "EDM only" tour, combining massive beats, A-list talent and an al fresco sound experience all (hopefully) in your neck of the woods.

"IDentity came to me and said, 'We've got an interesting idea. We want to take a touring electronic music festival on the road,' " Kaskade told MTV News recently in Las Vegas. "Electric Daisy is popping up in all of these other cities, Bonnaroo has got an EDM tent, and Coachella's tent is bigger every year. So it was just a matter of time before someone said, 'Let's get one of these parties together and just move it around.' So they came to me, and I thought the idea was awesome."

It's no surprise that, sometimes, Middle America gets the short end of the stick when it comes to hosting big-name acts, especially in the EDM world. But IDentity aims to change all that, bringing three massive stages to each city: the Skullcandy Main Stage, the Dim-Mak Festival Stage and the Underground stage, each with its own crowd-pleasing lineups and state-of-the-art sound that promises to leave the masses' senses properly tingled.

"It's not only New York and L.A. who love this music," he said. "There's all these places around the country that might not get the opportunity to see everyone."

Including the likes of Skrillex, Avicii, Steve Aoki, Pete Tong, LA Riots and the Manufactured Superstars, among others, IDentity is suitable for EDM fans of every ilk. The massive bus tour kicks off August 11 at the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana, and then snakes throughout the rest of the lower 48 — 20 cities in all. Next up, the tour heads back east, hitting the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey, on August 14, Charlotte, North Carolina, on the 16th and New York's Jones Beach Amphitheater on the 21st. The caravan then heads south, darting through Atlanta's Lakewood Amphitheatre, then Tampa and Miami's Bayfront Park and finally heading to the Left Coast by way of Texas, New Mexico, California and ultimately the Pacific Northwest.

"These are like 10,000-person outdoor amphitheaters, which is cool," Kaskade said. "The venues, like the Gorge in Seattle, are these beautiful, really cool outdoor amphitheaters that typically have never housed anything like this, so I think it's a really interesting opportunity. You Google them [to see], like, 'Who else has played here? Dave Matthews and Phish!' — all of these really cool touring bands that do these types of things in the summer."

In preparation for the tour, Kaskade has kicked off his second year of residency at Las Vegas' sprawling day club Encore Beach, in addition to giving a little extra love to his upcoming album, being produced in his brand-new Santa Monica studio — sans the porcelain.

"For many years, I actually had my computer in my bathroom — for noise purposes — and I drilled a hole through the wall into the studio and ran the chords through it," he recalled with a laugh. "People were always like, 'Why was the computer in the toilet? What if it overflows?' People were always concerned about that. Anyway, I'm not in the bathroom anymore. ... It's like my first truly proper studio!"

Will you check out Kaskade if the IDentity Festival comes to your town? Let us know in the comments!

CyHi The Prynce Is Kanye West's 'Ally'

'I can't really speak on Consequence, 'cause I don't know the agreements they had,' CyHi tells 'RapFix Live.'

There has been a bit of dissention in Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music camp, but CyHi The Prynce won't involve himself in any of it. Instead, the self-proclaimed, self-reliant Atlanta MC chooses to work on building his career up as much as he can, himself.

In May, former G.O.O.D. rapper Consequence sat on the "RapFix Live" couch to air some grievances with his onetime friend Kanye West. At the root of Cons' issue seemed to be his omissions from an XXL magazine photo shoot and BET taping, as well as the delay in the release of his sophomore album, Cons TV. When Sway asked Cons if his angst spread to any of the other artists on G.O.O.D.. he coyly said, "Wait till M.O.D. 3," plugging his still-unreleased mixtape Movies on Demand 3.

"I can't really speak on Consequence, 'cause I don't know the agreements they had," CyHi said on Wednesday's "Rap Fix Live." "They had their relationship before I came along, so I don't have no problem with him. That's my guy."

While Cy distanced himself from the rift between 'Ye and Cons, he did speak on his own situation, letting it be known that he does not feel as if Kanye owes him anything beyond what he has already given.

"I say 'Ye don't have to do nothing else for me. He didn't even have to put me on the album; he could've just said, 'Yo he's dope,' like he did on his blog, and I was gonna run with that," CyHi said before revealing the surprising circumstances in which he got signed at a 2010 magazine cover shoot. "I didn't know he was gonna sign me. I got surprised with the signing at the XXL shoot. I was just rappin'."

Every relationship has the potential to sour, and the Prynce, who is just beginning work on his debut album, The Hard Way Musical, is grateful for Kanye's assist but says he isn't reliant on it. "God forbid anything happen to [Kanye] and he's not going to be able to do that no more, then where are we gonna go after that?" he questioned. "So I try to build my own foundation and let him know I'm not just an artist of his; I'm an ally."

Shia LaBeouf Compares 'Transformers' Gals Megan Fox, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

'You went from a biker-machine-shop chick to a woman who's fresh out of college,' LaBeouf tells MTV News about his onscreen romances.
By Kara Warner

Unless you've been living under a rock and/or have avoided all news related to "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," you're likely well aware that there was much ado about actress Megan Fox leaving the franchise and, subsequently, being replaced with model/first-time actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

With the film in theaters this week, fans have moved beyond guessing about the circumstances that led to the alleged firing and hiring of Fox and Huntington-Whiteley, respectively, and turned their attention to another pressing question: How are the two characters addressed in the film? Specifically, how does one gorgeous girlfriend exit to leave room for a new one? And while we know this is a summer movie full of fantasy, is it really believable that a guy like Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) could wind up with the likes of Mikaela Banes (Fox) and Carly (Huntington-Whiteley)?

MTV News went straight to the source and enlisted LaBeouf and Huntington-Whiteley to explain the appeal and attraction of their characters, Sam and Carly, and to compare the "Dark of the Moon" relationship to the one between Sam and Mikaela, established in the first two installments.

"The relationship the first time was a person chasing after a woman that he envied out of pure vanity," LaBeouf told us. "He didn't even know her, and he gets burned by it," he added, hinting at a "Dark of the Moon" scene where his character admits to being flat-out dumped by girlfriend #1.

"[In this film], you find him with a woman who's more nurturing, who has a more maternal-type vibe; she's lighter," LaBeouf explained. "You went from a biker-machine-shop chick, which is a totally different sentiment, to a woman who's fresh out of college working for the British embassy as a diplomatic aide; it's a very different personality."

LaBeouf also revealed that before Huntington-Whiteley was cast, he suggested to director Michael Bay that they go for a girl who was the exact opposite of Megan Fox's Mikaela. "I remember pitching to Mike, 'Maybe we should go with a more bookish type,' " he recalled.

"Mike said to me — and there's two faces to this that are hilarious and insane and also genius, so three sides. I remember him saying to me, 'Shia, we're not going with any bookish anything. This is a summer movie — we need a summer girl.' To his credit, Mike really understands his audience. There's a certain audience that goes to see these movies that has certain requirements that it needs out of its summer movies."

From Huntington-Whiteley's perspective, her character sees something different in Sam than Mikaela did.

"She is so in love with him. He as a character, he's so funny, Sam, and he has such a great family in the movies," she said. "As the movie goes on, it kind of unfolds that she's had a hard time with her family. She's worked really hard, she's come from England. I think she finds him and he's the first person who adores her, as he should, and she loves that he adores her and they have this really lovely relationship," she explained. "It's a sweet thing. Shia was great to play that, with of course."

Jay-Z And Kanye's Watch The Throne Is 'Ready To Go'

'They might put it out yesterday,' G.O.O.D. Music's CyHi the Prynce jokes to Sway on 'RapFix Live.'

The anticipation for Jay-Z and Kanye West's joint album Watch the Throne coupled with the lack of information surrounding the project has created the perfect storm for rumors.

Earlier this month, The Source magazine reported that the album would be dropping July 4. With Independence Day coming in less than a week, those chances are looking as slim as the girl in Calvin Klein pants is. But on Wednesday's (June 29) episode of "Rap Fix Live," G.O.O.D. Music artist CyHi the Prynce did give fans a bit of hope.

"They are ready to go. Right now, all the music and everything is done," CyHi told Sway. "But you know my guy — we over here with [Kanye], so 'Ye is gonna add his last little pizzazz, and it's going to be ready for you guys soon."

On Tuesday, the Fourth of July speculation continued to swirl as AllHipHop.com ran a rumor report that said that the album will come Monday as a digital-only release to avoid leaks. CyHi would neither confirm nor deny that report, saying he wasn't privy to that information.

"I don't know the business of the logistics of it," he said, dodging the question with a veteran's poise. "Those are the bosses. You never know what they gonna do and how they gonna put it out. They might put it out yesterday.

"I don't know. 'Ye can do something, and he can just do it how he wanna do it," CyHi continued. "He can just put it out tomorrow if he wanted to, and that's what 'Ye want to do."

Until then, we'll continue to watch.

Greyson Chance Gets Revenge In 'Unfriend You' Video

Clip, which premiered Wednesday, is first single from Hold On 'Til the Night.

Don't let Greyson Chance's tender age fool you: this Internet sensation-turned-teen pop star has had his share of heartbreak. However, he knows exactly how to overcome the perils of teenage love, as displayed in the new clip for his single, "Unfriend You," which premiered Wednesday (June 29) exclusively on MTV and MTV Hits.

In the clip, Chance becomes distressed while looking at photos of himself and his former girlfriend (played by teen starlet Ariana Grande), and soon discovers her cozying up to a jock-like replacement. Ready for some kind of break, the 13-year-old singer/songwriter turns to his loyal group of friends in the visual for the heartbreak tune, attending an age-appropriate house party filled with dancing, ping pong and, of course, silly string.

In between the festivities, he meets a girl, who seemingly removes all ex-girlfriend woes. Chance takes the fun outside when he and the rest of the house party pay a visit to his former flame's house, covering it in toilet paper, all before showing off his new gal pal.

MTV News caught up with the budding star on the video's Los Angeles-based set, where he gushed about partaking in some on-camera teen mischief. "It's been so much fun already shooting it," he said. "We got to TP this house ... This is just more things leading up to the record, so I'm really excited for it."

As for why the YouTube phenomenon felt the heartbreak tune was fitting as the lead single off his debut album Hold On 'Til the Night, Chance explained, "I think 'Unfriend You' is an amazing record because, one, it's a breakup song, which breakup songs are always fun, and two, it's referencing social media, especially in this day and age, I think it's very important to reference social media in music."

Fans who can't stop listening to "Unfriend You" might find a similar liking to the rest of the singer's new LP, which drops August 2, since it also deals with the trials of heartache. "When I was writing this record, and especially when I was in the studio cutting 'Unfriend You,' I was heartbroken, so it felt good to express myself through the music and through the art of it," the singer explained.

Eminem's 'Space Bound' Video Is 'Tricky,' Jim Jonsin Says

'It reminded me of Alanis Morissette's 'Ironic' video, where she's got her and her two other egos in the car,' song's producer tells MTV News.
By Rob Markman

Everyone seems to have their own take on Eminem's new "Space Bound" video, in which the Detroit MC commits suicide after finding out that his girlfriend is cheating on him. The song's producer, Jim Jonsin, likened the clip to a movie, and while the video is indeed shocking, he believes Eminem is clearly playing a character.

"Things happen in movies all the time. People kill themselves, people get killed, they kill other people," the multiplatinum producer explained to MTV News on Monday. "When my kids watch it, I like to explain to them in that manner: 'It's like a movie, ya know? He isn't really killing himself.' "

Jonsin, who was on set when the Joseph Kahn-directed vid was shot in February, suggested that viewers watch the clip a few times to figure out the plot and then draw their own conclusion.

"The video itself, it's tricky to figure out what's going on in certain scenes," he said. "It's going to take them a moment to figure out why he did it. It's not exactly spelled out, like, 'I killed myself because this girl drove me to it or she's cheating on me or she's texting some other dude,' or whatever it might be. So you're still guessing a little bit."

Another element of the video that can be interpreted in a few ways is the two different versions of Eminem that appear onscreen simultaneously. Sasha Grey, who plays the rapper's girlfriend in "Space Bound," sees one of the two Shadys as Em's subconscious. Jonsin had a similar take and compared the visual to Alanis Morissette's 1996 video for her hit single "Ironic."

"It reminded me of Alanis Morissette's 'Ironic' video, where she's got her and her two other egos in the car," he said, before turning the conversation back to Em. "I think it was him living in the now as a person going through it and him living as a person who is witnessing it and can make other choices to not be in that scenario. Maybe he would've chose differently, so now he's watching himself."

How did you interpret Em's video? Let us know in the comments below!

"The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" is the undeniable lead contender at this year's Teen Choice Awards. The flick received 12 nods, including Choice Movie: Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Choice Movie Actor: Sci-Fi/Fantasy for both Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner and Choice Movie Actress: Sci-Fi/Fantasy for Kristen Stewart.

The other big nominations for the flick include two for Choice Movie: Liplock (for K-Stew's kisses with both Lautner and RPattz), Bryce Dallas Howard for Choice Movie: Villain, Kellan Lutz for Choice Movie: Male Scene Stealer and Ashley Greene for Choice Movie: Female Scene Stealer.

But there are some other movies, TV shows and musicians vying for surfboards on August 7. "Glee," "The Vampire Diaries," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1," Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and "The Hangover Part II" all received nominations for the show, which airs on Fox.

Gomez and Swift face off against each other in the Choice Music: Love Song category for their songs "Love You Like a Love Song" and "Mine," respectively. They are up against Allstar Weekend ("Come Down With Love"), Bruno Mars ("Just the Way You Are") and Katy Perry ("Teenage Dream").

David Cook Jokes He's Still 'Bothered' By Simon Cowell Nightmare

'This one kept me up a lot of nights,' Cook tells MTV News of recording brand-new This Loud Morning.
By Jim Cantiello

David Cook
Photo: MTV News

It's been more than three years since David Cook won the seventh season of "American Idol," but the TV show that launched his career resurfaced, in his sleep no less, while he was working on the brand-new This Loud Morning.

"There was a dream last year where I auditioned for 'Idol' again," Cook told MTV News. "I got in front of Simon Cowell and he reamed me and I didn't make it. For some reason, that bothered me a little bit."

There are no songs on This Loud Morning titled "Snarky Brit (How Could You Say No to Me?)," but the Kansas City, Missouri, rocker insists his album was inspired by his nighttime adventures into the subconscious, or perhaps the lack thereof. "I've never immersed myself in a record as much as I immersed myself in this one," Cook said. "That's not to say that I was phoning it in on the nine [albums, including eight pre-'Idol' indie releases] I did before this. But this one especially, I never had problems sleeping because of records, and this one kept me up a lot of nights.

"The other [recurring] dream was something about being chased by a witch and I hid in the vents of my childhood home. I got issues, man," Cook sighed. For the record, Cook clarified that the witch was from "The Wizard of Oz"; no flying monkeys were present, however. "Usually, those strange dreams occur when I eat late," David said he finally discovered.

Cook's This Loud Morning hit stores on Tuesday (June 28), courtesy of 19 Recordings and RCA Records.

Alicia Keys Marvels At 'Incredible' Wax Figure

'Look that's my chin! That's my jaw!' songstress tells MTV News of her Madame Tussauds likeness.
By Jocelyn Vena

Alicia Keys unviels her wax figure at Madame Tussauds in New York City

NEW YORKAlicia Keys famously sang about the "spirit of New York" on her hit song with Jay-Z, "Empire State of Mind." Now the New York native is part of an exhibit with that name at Madame Tussauds in Times Square, and she couldn't be prouder to have her wax figure stand alongside those of Regis Philbin, Woody Allen and Frank Sinatra.

"I actually think it's really, really good!" she raved to MTV News about the likeness. "I was looking close up: It's like my eyebrows are for real, and it's like my eyes are for real, and the bone structure of my chin, like, 'Look, that's my chin! That's my jaw!'

"It's incredible. It's really incredible, and I think it's so cool to be a part of the New York City part of the exhibit," she added. "I was born and raised here, this is my home, so it's so perfect."

It's a particularly big day for Keys, as it was just announced she's producing the Broadway play "Stick Fly." Keys said she can't believe she has her hand in something that will be playing on the Great White Way.

"The piece is really about this beautiful African-American family in Martha's Vineyard, and it is so deep," she said of the play by Lydia R. Diamond. "It's about all the secrets that families have, and it's funny. What I love about it is it bypasses everything, and it's all about family."

The singer, who is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of her breakout album Songs in A Minor, says that, as a New Yorker, getting on Broadway is living the dream. "Broadway is something that's played an integral part in my life. It's been something that I've experienced my whole life," she said. "I've always wanted to be a part of it. You haven't seen this family before on Broadway. It's universal and at the same time unique."

Key Cameo: Lil B, is the only confirmed guest so far.

Real Spit: Nobody likes album delays. Lil Wayne is well aware of this fact. SO, to make up for the multiple pushbacks of Tha Carter IV, Weezy will be dropping a new mixtape, aptly titled Sorry for the Wait, in the coming weeks.

"The mixtape is called Sorry for the Wait, and it's because [manager Cortez Bryant] pushed the album back so, sorry for the wait," Weezy told Shaheem Reid in outtakes from an interview for XXL's July/August issue.

At the time of the interview, which took place on June 13, the Young Money CEO revealed that he was only three songs deep on Sorry but was in back in mixtape mode and planned to include guests like Lil B on the project. According to Wayne, the tape will be formatted in a similar way to his 2009 project No Ceilings and will feature the lyrical dynamo rapping over other artist's tracks.

The tactic allows Wayne to jump on songs that he didn't get the chance to, in an attempt to put his own stamp on them. "Yeah, it's gonna be just like No Ceilings, taking the f--- over a n---a's beat. You know what it is, killin' n---as sh--," he said. "Make a n---a pissed, mad as a mother----er he ain't call me to get on that mother----er originally. Like, 'F---, if I'd have took this n---a call this n---a's song wouldn't be hotter than mine!"

As it stands now, Tha Carter IV is scheduled to drop August 29 after being pushed back from its May and June release dates.

Evanescence's New Album 'All Over The Place,' Amy Lee Says

Follow-up to The Open Door, due October 4, 'smacks you right in the face,' singer says.
By James Montgomery

Amy Lee is having a hard time talking about Evanescence's upcoming album, partially because she's out of practice — it's been a while since the band's frontwoman has had to run the press gauntlet, after all — but mostly because she keeps using words like "fun" to describe it. And even she realizes how odd that seems.

"I can't give a good quote about it, because it's probably the heaviest record we've ever done, but we're having a great time making it," the singer said, laughing. "I don't want to say the word 'fun,' but it is ... it's totally fun. We're just going for it. So I don't want to say that it's 'expressing the pain of a thousand sorrows,' because it's not that. I mean, it's just more mature; it's just a great record. It's hard to sum it up."

Of course, she's quick to add that "fun" doesn't necessarily mean "silly or poppy." "It doesn't translate right ... I'm having fun; we're all having fun," she explained, "And there are moments where you can hear that."

But Lee will be the first one to admit that, when Evanescence return in October with their first album in five years, they'll be a very different beast indeed. Case in point: the first single, which, though she won't reveal the title, is one she feels comfortable describing as a definite departure for the band.

"It's really different for us. It doesn't sound like any Evanescence track you've heard before," she said. "It's heavy, but the melodies and stuff, I feel like I just did what I wanted. I just literally sang what I wanted to sing, because it was fun and it kind of made me smile, and that ended up being the really fun, cool, catchy thing that got everybody hooked on it."

And though it's different, Lee knows that there's plenty riding on the band's comeback single, which is why, even if she was smiling when she recorded it, the song's still got plenty of the band's trademark growl, too. And the same goes for the album.

"You always have to think about that. We have to go through making the decisions with the label, and see what they're going to push," she explained. "We don't get to do whatever we want all the time, so the single has to sound like a hit. But, for us, we want more than that.

"There's a lot I want to get across all at once, before I lose anybody's attention. So, the song that I think is the first single is the song that wraps it all up. It's got a cool meaning, a lot of great lyrics going on, it also just smacks you right in the face and it's heavy and it's great ... I think that there's a couple songs that meet that same criteria."

To that end, though she (accidentally) uses words like "fun" to describe it, the new Evanescence album might just be the next logical step for the band: The same themes are there, but for the first time in her career, Lee is writing about them (and herself) in new ways. At the end of the day, as has always been the case, catharsis is key.

"There are themes of brokenness, the quest for freedom, and then there's songs that are just about falling in love ... it's just all over the place," she said, laughing. "There's this beautiful song that — it's definitely going to make the album, or I will kill someone — it's not like a single or anything, it's just this epic album track that's about loss from the perspective of someone losing someone in a tragedy, and it's really cool to listen back to that, too.

"That's not something I did on The Open Door. The Open Door was all about me and my personal experiences. And there's some moments on this one that are actually taken from things that I watched go down, from my friends and stuff like that. But really, whatever makes me feel the most, that's what's on the record, because that's what I need to get off my chest."

Ryan Dunn Remembered At Electric Daisy Carnival

David Guetta, Tiësto, Swedish House Mafia, Afrojack and Skrillex bring massive dance party to Las Vegas.

LAS VEGAS — They say, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas," but when more than 200,000 screaming fans and an all-star lineup including Tiësto, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Afrojack and Skrillex come together for the largest dance-music festival in the country, it's no secret.

Insomniac's 15th annual Electric Daisy Carnival over the weekend transformed Las Vegas' Motor Speedway into a carnival, complete with thrill rides and aerial performers, six stages, 13 large-scale art installations, full fireworks displays and even lavish helicopter rides that took VIPs to and from the festival.

A somber moment came during the end of Skrillex's set, when he dedicated a moment of silence for his friend, former "Jackass star" Ryan Dunn, who died in a car accident last week. Audience members used lighters and cell phones to light up the entire dance floor, paying respect to the young star.

Each night of the festival, parachuters lit up the skies with flashing lights and flew directly overhead, providing eye-catching entertainment. This state-of-the-art event was an audiovisual experience comparable to the Coachella festival but distinct in its own right, as it's one of the only festivals of its size that caters specifically to electronic-music fans.

"EDC LA was one of the top festivals I did last year, and I think Vegas (this year) will be that times 10," Afrojack told MTV News earlier last week. "The thing that makes EDC so different from other events is really the production. The sound and lighting is some of the craziest I've seen in the world."

Friday night kicked off with impressive sets by Manufactured Superstars, the Crystal Method and a powerful performance by Wolfgang Gartner, who invited rapper Eve onstage to perform their unreleased "Get Em." The bouncy, fun, club-ready track, which featured Eve's vocals throughout, is planned for Gartner's upcoming album.

Later, Dutch EDM legend Tiësto played a progressive house and trance set for his adoring fans, many who donned self-made T-shirts and body paint with his name proudly displayed across their chests, on the massive main stage. Meanwhile, dubstep dons Skream and Benga brought heavy beats and bass, with a 25-minute fireworks show as their backdrop. Major Lazer's Diplo and Switch closed out the night, summoning the sunrise with dancehall and hip-hop anthems that kept the crowd on their feet until the wee hours of the morning.

On Saturday, there were daytime pool parties at nearly every hotel on the strip, leaving little downtime before the festival doors reopened. Roger Sanchez, Dirty South, Boys Noize, Benny Benassi and Martin Solveig all played to crowds of bikini-clad women and sun-soaked fans, some that didn't have tickets to the actual festival, but most that just wanted more tunes from their favorite DJs. The Cosmopolitan was the official hotel of the artists and Insomniac promoters, so some fans had the added treat of meeting their favorite stars, like Dirty South, Chuckie and Avicii, as they walked in and out of the casino.

Saturday night drew the largest crowd, as each stage held massive headliners including Empire of the Sun, Above and Beyond, Richie Hawtin and Dada Life. Tens of thousands of fans chanted for Afrojack to start his set, then sang along to nearly every word of his signature tracks, "Take Over Control," "Give Me Everything" (his current Billboard Hot 100-topping Pitbull production) and "Show Me Love."

Pyrotechnics erupted across the vibrantly lit stage during Benny Benassi's set and carried over into superstar David Guetta's nearly two-hour performance of dance-party anthems. Guetta, who brought out Flavor Flav, included "I Got a Feeling," "Sexy Bitch" and his new single with Nicki Minaj, "Where Them Girls At," which will be on his August 30 release, "Nothing But the Beat."

Dubstep was a dominant genre at this year's festival, with high-rising stars like Rusko, Skrillex, 12th Planet and Bassnectar bringing their deep bass drops, wobbly rhythms and energetic personalities to the forefront as they captured the second-largest stage throughout the weekend. Even Benny Benassi added dubstep to his set and brought Skrillex onstage to hype fans for switching up the style. Skrill's remix of Benassi's "Cinema," featuring Gary Go, was an anthem at South by Southwest earlier this year. Drum and bass was also represented strongly with the likes of High Contrast, Subfocus, Hype and Andy C.

Sunday was saved for dance music's current rock stars, Swedish House Mafia, who performed a memorable set for their fervent fans. Among the Swedes' offerings was their current hit summer sing-along, "Save the World." They let loose many of their bangers including "One," "Miami 2 Ibiza'" and "Leave the World Behind."

Other honorable performances were Laidback Luke, Avicii, A-Trak and Afrojack, who played his second stellar set of the festival. Wolfgang Gartner and Dada Life also played twice at EDC and helped finish the final festival hours, nearing 6 a.m., for crowds who begged for the music to never end.

LOS ANGELES — Radio station Power 106 held their annual sold-out Powerhouse concert at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, on Saturday night, bringing together multiple generations of hip-hop stars, from West Coast OG Ice Cube to L.A.'s latest dance-craze instigators the Rej3ctz to a chart-topping visitor from out east, Wiz Khalifa.

The Rej3ctz opened the show with a high-energy performance and later danced onstage with the very colorful LMFAO as they performed "Shots." Sporting a white T-shirt and bright yellow cargo shorts, T-Pain took it up a couple notches with a string of his hits and left fans fully charged with DJ Khaled's "All I Do Is Win."

The evening had a couple of surprises on deck: 50 Cent joined Jeremih on their collabo "Down on Me," which Jeremih said was the first time they've ever performed the song together in concert. Compton's own DJ Quik gave loyal fans what they came for, and when Lupe Fiasco pulled young crooner Trey Songz onstage during his set, screaming concertgoers raised the decibels to new heights.

The Don Mega himself, Ice Cube, brought out his old N.W.A bandmate MC Ren on the song "Hello."

"It makes you feel good, being in the game as long as I have," Ice Cube told MTV News before the show. "I done went from new school to old school and still here. You can't do nothing but be humbled by the fact that so many rappers is gone. ... I'm still here after all this time."

Cube was also the most-anticipated act of the evening by fellow performers including the headliner, Wiz Khalifa.

"This is my first time performing at Powerhouse, my first time performing at an event this big, so I feel elated," Wiz told MTV News before his set. "I'm really excited about seeing Cube."

But Khalifa had another trick up his sleeve when it came to honoring L.A.'s hip-hop roots: He brought out his "High School" co-star Snoop Dogg for one last Powerhouse surprise, no doubt leaving 18,000 fans feeling like they got their money's worth.

Michael Jackson's Legacy, Two Years Later, By the Numbers

Legendary singer's impact continues to blossom in the two years since his death; MTV News breaks down the figures.
By Gil Kaufman

Michael Jackson
Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage

Like Elvis, Bob Marley, Notorious B.I.G. and Frank Sinatra before him, Michael Jackson's influence has continued, and grown, since his untimely death on June 25, 2009.

On the second anniversary of the King of Pop's passing, MTV News took a look at the enduring appeal of MJ's music, videos and imagery, which continue to fascinate and attract fans across the globe thanks to a series of posthumous albums, a movie, video games and two upcoming Cirque du Soleil live shows.

Where Were You Two Years Ago When You Heard the News? Tell Us on Facebook

$72 million: According to Box Office Mojo, Jackson's posthumous concert film, "This Is It," has grossed more than $72 million to date domestically and $189 million in foreign markets for a worldwide take over more than $261 million. It ranks as the #2 music documentary of all-time behind Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never." The film has also generated nearly $45 million in DVD sales in the U.S.

16: In May, Jackson lodged his first #1 on the Billboard magazine Dance/ Club Play Songs chart in 16 years with the latest single from his posthumous Michael album, "Hollywood Tonight."

2: Number of posthumous albums that have been released since Michael's death in June 2009. Last year's Michael has sold just over 510,000 copies to date, while the This Is It collection has moved nearly 1 million copies to date in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

15,000: The number of videos submitted by fans since March for the crowdsourced video for "Behind the Mask." After they were edited down by a five-person team over two months, the resulting clip used submissions from more than 1,600 participants from 103 countries.

3 million: The amount of copies sold of the Ubisoft "Michael Jackson: The Experience" video game worldwide.

$57 million: The reported cost of Cirque du Soleil's traveling MJ show, "The Immortal World Tour, which is slated to kick off on October 2.

$1 billion: That gaudy figure is the reported amount the Jackson estate had generated by last June on the first anniversary of the singer's death. According to Billboard, the revenue was generated by a combination of music sales ($429 million), film/TV revenue ($392 million), music publishing ($130 million), licensing ($35 million) and a $31 million recording contract. (A spokesperson for Jackson's estate declined to provide updated figures for this story.)

$310 million: The amount of gross earnings reported by the executors of the estate in a December 2010 court filing detailing the progress made in paying off the $400 million in debt run up by the spendthrift singer during his lifetime.

16.1 million: MJ was always a big singles artist. Yes, Thriller is one of the best-selling albums of all time, but even in death, fans can't resist cherry-picking some of Michael's best songs. That explains why he's sold more than 16 million digital tracks since June 28, 2009, the first sales week following his passing, according to Nielsen SoundScan. To put that in perspective, from the time Nielsen began counting digital tracks in 2004 until the week before Jackson's death, the singer had sold just over 8.1 million digital tracks, a figure that has doubled in just the past two years.

2013: The projected launch for a second, non-touring Cirque show celebrating Jackson. The yet-untitled show is slated to open in the spring of 2013 at a new theater being built at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

$25 million to $50 million: That's how much Jackson's estate takes in on an annual basis thanks to his stake in the half-million-song Sony/ATV catalog, which includes titles by Elvis, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Beyoncé and Bob Dylan.
